Installation Guide

!
All picket fencing rails are supplied at a length of 3000mm. A fence rail is passed through a post so that an equal length of fence rail is at each side of the fence post.
Now place the post into the hole dug out to a minimum depth of 18” (460mm).
The ends of the rail will naturally be over the centre of the next holes to be dug at each side of the post in the ground at 1500mm spacing.
Now dig a hole at each of these points and offer the next posts to the rail ends. The rail must push into the post to a depth of 30mm - 35mm.
With all three posts supported and in the centre of the holes already dug out, pour your dry concrete mix around the base of the three posts and pack down with an elephants foot or a small length of 3” x 2” timber.
The start of your post and rail fence is now in place and following the above method will ensure all post spacing to be correct. All other rails can now be pushed through the posts and bolted through the post at the centre of the 3000mm rail as in the diagram. The next rail up or down of this should be a rail end that is not fixed but loose in the post slot to allow the rail to expand in length in hot weather.
Screw vertical batons in place with screws & caps provided with equal spacing. Use a vertical baton as your spacer bar. 10  batons per 1.5m (5ft)  rails. Use a string line to keep batons straight in line at the top.
